This beautiful child
was at one of the many
powwows in Michigan.
Shy and innocent, she
danced with her older
sisters and Father.
Her Mother gently combed
her hair and arranged
her handmade regalia.
The artist gained permission
to photograph the children.
There are times at powwows
when photographs are
allowed and
times when they are
forbidden such as when
a feather falls or when there
is an honor song or flag
ceremony.
